Privacy
Islamic Internet Archives is a free, non-commercial library. There is no advertising and nothing is sold or shared. This page says plainly what is kept and why.
Reading and downloading
You can read, search and download everything without an account. Visits are counted with our own copy of Matomo, an open-source statistics program that runs on our server (stats.islamicarchives.org), with cookies switched off. It tells us which pages and books are read and searched for, so we know what to work on next; it is not used to follow anyone, and the figures are never given to anyone else.
Like every website, our hosting company keeps standard technical logs of requests (address, time, page) to keep the site running and safe.
Send to Kindle and Email it to me
The email address you type is used to send that book and is not stored. To stop misuse, the server counts how many books go to an address each day, using a one-way code made from the address, not the address itself.
My reading
Shelves, bookmarks and notes stay in your browser unless you sign in. If you do, we keep your email address and a copy of your library so it follows you to other devices. The details, and how to delete your account, are on My reading: how your data is kept.
Corrections, volunteers and requests
- Readers who suggest a correction sign in with their email; the editor sees the name and email with the correction. Corrections that are accepted become part of the text; the reader’s email is never shown.
- Volunteers have an account with their name and email. Their changes are kept in the archive’s history, with their name, so that every change can be checked and undone.
- Rights and takedown requests sent with the request form are kept with the sender’s name and email so we can answer and keep a record of permissions. They are seen only by the archive’s editors.
Removing your data
Write to contact@islamicarchives.org and we will remove what we hold about you, except where a record must be kept to show that a text is published with permission.
