Today, there are excellent collections of Children’s literature found in the bookshops. Among them, we find books for children categorized by age. Professional writers with doctorate degrees and child psychologists are the authors of some of these books.

Found among these books is “Parent’s Love and other Islamic Stories” though (a bit) expensive, but worth its price, considering the use of good quality glossy paper, thick covers, attractive illustrations, --- like the books printed from London, produced by Yusuf Islam (yet to be seen in India) and like those of Harun Yahya’s books, although there are Indian prints of the same author but of inferior quality), --- from India carrying the “Goodwordkidz” name tag for the young Islamic readers by Goodword Books Pvt. Ltd., based in New Delhi, publishers of Islamic books worth mentioning for keeping their quality of books on par with other major publishing houses in India.

Islamic books for children are unique in several ways, their sole objective trying to mould young minds on the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah, and the way of the Companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him. The book has stories taken from Muslim history, Arabian legends, and anecdotes from the Islamic past. Though, the book looks outwardly general, there’s lot to learn from it.

The book attempts to make the religion of Islam palatable to the young readers, which can be relished by grown-ups too. It helps the “committed” Muslim parents to raise their children as responsible members in the Muslim society.

The book, “Parent’s Love and other Islamic Stories,” by Ishrat J Rumy, having a collection of 28 Islamic stories and Arabian legends, bound in a 80-page book, published 2003, and priced at Rs. 90, it’s worth a place in your ‘library’ and is quite enjoyable.
